The Oatmeal has collaborated with J&D’s to make Sriracha Rooster Sauce Popcorn, a “Thai-inspired kick-in-the-face” Sriracha hot sauce flavored popcorn made with “red chilies, garlic, sugar and a hint of vinegar”. It is described on the package as “a crunchy firestorm for your face”. The popcorn’s packaging was designed The Oatmeal’s Matthew Inman, who is a big fan of Sriracha. It is available to purchase online (1, 2).
Rather than making something so spicy it was inedible, we focused more on making it taste good. The recipe contains a mixture of garlic, peppers, salt, and has quite a kick to it. If you eat it really fast it’s got a respectable afterburn, but if you take it slow it’s like riding a riverboat through the jungles of dee-lish.
