Royal/T in LA

On a recent trip to L.A., I stopped in at Royal/T in Culver City on the recommendation of Attaboy from Hi Fructose.

Royal/T is a playful collision of spaces—café/shop/art space—presented in stunning fusion. An eclectic mix of retail and contemporary art re-imagined in the surrounds of LA’s first Japanese-style cosplay café.

I’ve posted a bunch of pictures on Flickr from our visit. We frankly spent most of our time in the shop where you can get awesome stuff like what’s shown below…

This is not real food

They also carry those awesome plastic finger tentacles. One of the lovely Royal/Team was willing to model them for us:

I for one welcome our tentacled anime overlords...

There are lots of pictures of previous art shows and events on the Royal/T Flickr page, although their Facebook page is much more up to date.

Actor, nerd, poet, producer, writer mikl-em made his name short so you wouldn't have to. In addition to his blog you can find his writing in "Hi Fructose" magazine and witness him almost life-sized in various plays at The Dark Room Theater in SF's Mission district.

He tends to write about theater, humor, San Francisco culture and history, and stuff that's just plain weird. He thanks Scott for sharing the keys to the Laughing Squid virtual HQ and promises to uphold whatever it is that the mirthful cephalopod would prefer to be uplifted.
