Pacer, An Early Hyperlapse Film That Depicts Montreal in Frenetic Time-Lapses (1995)

The 1995 short film “Pacer” by Guy Roland depicts Montreal through a series of frenetic time-lapses. The film is an early example of hyperlapse, a time-lapse in which a camera tracking motion is simulated through the repositioning of the camera between shots. Only a single print of the film survives, and in 2015 Vancouver, B.C. video production company NBD Creative digitally remastered the film into the version seen here. Roland is a co-founder of the company.
