Gurefuru Chuchu by Takara Tomy is a fun anthropomorphic juicing device for citrus fruits. It takes about a minute to twist and turn the juice out of a piece of fruit using the mustached head of “Mr. Gurefuru”. When you’re done churning, pull him out, stick in a drinking straw and enjoy your fresh fruit juice. The product’s promotional video explains it all. It will be available to purchase from Japan Trend Shop on March 29. 2012. (Though not related, the “Mr. Gurefuru” reminds me of the 1960s Funny Face drink mix characters.)
Takara Tomy have come up with a great way to enjoy fresh fruit juice straight from the fruit itself. Just take the Gurefuru Chuchu, use the “leaf” to open up a little hole and then insert the main character-themed part (“Mr. Gurefuru”) into the top of the fruit. Twist him round lots of times for around one minute to churn up all the insides of the fruit and then take him out again. Now just use a conventional straw slurp up (“chuchu”) the delicious and refreshing juice you’ve created!
