Melt, Dancers Hanging From Walls As Their Costumes Melt Away

Melt

“Melt” is a site-specific installation by choreographer Noémie Lafrance of Sens Production that features dancers hanging from a wall while their costumes slowly melt away. The final performances of Melt take place September 9-12 at The Salt Pile at Pike Slip and South Street in New York. Here’s coverage of Melt the New York Times and Vanity Fair.

Eight dancers perched on a wall and wrapped in sculptural beeswax and lanolin costumes are slowly melting away, progressing in euphoria and exhaustion as if approaching the sun, melting until their souls escape their ephemeral bodies and disintegrate into light.
