Facebook has introduced Facebook Safety Check, a new tool designed to alert friends and loved ones of a user’s safety status after a major disaster, such as an earthquake. After an event occurs in an area, Facebook sends out a notification asking if a user is safe. If the user marks “I’m Safe,” a notification will be sent out to the user’s feed.
Unfortunately, these kinds of disasters happen all too frequently. Each time, we see people, relief organizations and first responders turn to Facebook in the aftermath of a major natural disaster.
