‘Confusion Through Sand’, A Hand-Drawn Animated Short About the Terrors of War

“Confusion Through Sand” is a short film by animation studio Ornana Films that tells the story of a terrified 19-year-old thrown into an armed conflict. The short, which premiered at SXSW, was drawn by hand on recycled paper that was back lit while being photographed to help bring out the full texture of the medium. There’s also a behind-the-scenes video detailing the making of the short, which took two and half years and more than 6,000 pieces of paper to complete.
