Amber, An Open-Source Tool for Website Owners Designed to Help Address Dead Links

Amber

Amber is a new open-source tool created by the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard University that is designed to help address the issue of dead links by providing a locally stored mirror of a link to give site visitors a fallback option, should the link disappear due to DDOS attacks, link rot, or any number of other reasons.

These mirrors are stored directly in the local storage space of the website or server. If one of the pages linked to on this website were to ever go down, Amber has stored and can provide visitors with access to a mirrored version.

The project is currently in beta and seeking users to help test its efficacy.
