A Young Princess Adventures With a Forrest Full of Playful Monsters in the Animation ‘Dark Dark Woods’

Dark Dark Woods is a cute animated film, created by a team of third year character animation and CG students at The Animation Workshop in Denmark, about a fed up young princess named Maria who sneaks away from her stuffy castle to adventure with a forest filled with playful, creepy looking monsters. It was brought to life by director Emile Gignoux, lead animator Mik Kirchheiner, co-art director Lillith Knudsen, character design lead Julia Mika Andersson, animator and background artist Nicole Fortes, 2D character and FX animator Louise Hovgård, and storyboard artist Alexandre Hatimi.

Young princess Maria has had about enough of her royal life – it’s all lesson, responsibilities and duties on top of each other, every hour of every day. Overwhelmed, Maria is swept away on an adventure into the monster-filled dark, dark woods.
