SpaceX Falcon 9 Rocket Makes Historic Landing on a Drone Ship in the Atlantic Ocean

Yesterday SpaceX made history when the first stage of their reusable Falcon 9 rocket successfully landed on the “Of Course I Still Love You” drone ship in the Atlantic Ocean after launching from Cape Canaveral to deliver cargo to the International Space Station (ISS) for NASA as part of their CRS-8 Dragon Mission.

On their previous attempt at this kind of landing at sea in January 2016, the Falcon 9 rocket successfully touched down, but then failed to lock to the drone ship, causing it to fall over and explode.
