Designer 3D Prints a Scan of His Wife’s Brain Tumor to Help Save Her Eyesight
California-based designer Michael Balzar may well have saved the vision of his wife, psychotherapist Pamela Shavaun Scott, by creating a 3D print based on a medical scan of a tumor doctors found lodged behind her left eye. After comparing the latest scan to an earlier version, Balzar realized that the growth’s increase had been misdiagnosed, according to Make. The print helped convince doctors to use an alternative technique to remove the tumor, saving her sight in the process.
