Illustration of Black Hole Jets Shooting From the 4U1630-47 Star System
In an artist’s illustration of the 4U1630-47 star system, a black hole shoots jets of electrons, protons, and the nuclei of heavy elements like iron and nickel, according to Astronomy Picture of the Day. The phenomena was first discovered by observing the star system depicted in this illustration with CSIRO’s Australia Telescope Compact Array and the European Space Agency’s XMM-Newton satellite.
