JPG Magazine, A New Publication For Photography

JPG Magazine

Two years ago my good friends Derek Powazek and Heather Powazek Champ launched JPG Magazine, a new kind of publication where photographers who fall between “amateur” and “professional” can submit photos based on a theme, which changes with each issue. Recently Derek and partner Paul Cloutier founded 8020 Publishing, Inc. which, among other things, will be publishing JPG Magazine.

JPG Magazine is for people who love imagemaking without attitude. It’s about the kind of photography you get when you love the moment more than the camera. It’s for photographers who, like us, have found themselves online, sharing their work, and would like to see that work in print.

Today they announced the launch of the new JPG Magazine website which, along with a fantastic redesign, adds many new features like membership, theme selection and voting for photo submissions. I’ve been playing around with it for a while and it looks amazing. Uploading< is a breeze, in fact, I've already submitted photos for the "Hometown" and "Big" themes for the upcoming issue #7. My friend and fellow photographer Jason DeFillippo has also been hard at work on the new JPG Magazine website along with Derek, Paul, Heather and Devin. Congratulations guys, I think this is going to be a huge success.
