File under “stuff that actually happens.” (My last jaunt to the fair(e) in Wisconsin, I saw a couple Stormtroopers walking around.)

A very similar thing happened on the show Home Movies when the neighboring Sci-Fi convention invaded and eventually attacked the Renaissance Fair.

I just want to know what you do when a Renaissance Faire invades a Star Trek/Sci-Fi convention.

It happened at Minicon 40 in the Twin Cities a few years ago. The featured guest author was Terry Pratchett, creator of the Discworld series of novels, and many of his fans attended in costume….and since the Discworld, although technically SciFi/Fantasy, still bears a strong resemblance to Medieval Europe, you can pretty much guess along what lines the costumes ran. As a result, the ‘traditional’ sci-fi geeks and Trekkers looked as out of place as a nun at a nudie bar.
