In “Moments That Changed The Movies: Jurassic Park,” the The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (the organization behind The Oscars) explores how the groundbreaking special effects of the 1993 movie Jurassic Park completely transformed the movie making process. The film, which recently turned 21, marked a shift away from more traditional special effects like stop motion animation to the computer graphic-driven visuals that dominate big budget blockbusters today.

It’s sort of like splitting the atom, once it happens, the industry shifts, and everybody starts talking.
