Laughing Squid’s Last Minute Unholiday Party

I had lunch today with Violet Blue and we were both talking about how there wasn’t much planned this weekend leading up to NYE. I mentioned that I had been thinking about organizing something, so I asked the Twitterverse if people would be up for an event on Saturday night and several people mentioned that they would be interested. Chris Messina and Tara Hunt even graciously offered up their Citizen Space offices.

So, tomorrow night, Saturday, December 29th we will be having Laughing Squid’s Last Minute Unholiday Party starting around 7pm at Citizen Space. Laughing Squid will be providing some beer and buying pizza, but please feel free to bring some more beer, wine, leftover holiday food, etc. and join us for some low-key socializing and geeking out.

This event is also kind of an experiment with social media. I’m not sending out invitations to individual people, but instead just posting the information to the Laughing Squid blog, Twitter, Facebook, Upcoming and Pownce, then letting it spread from there over a 24 hour period.

UPDATE: Here are some photos from the party.

This is an excellent idea … it’s not a four-day NYE weekend without four days of celebration.

Hi Scott, count me in if I find a solution with the kids home. To help your social media experience I just tweetted it too I hope that’s ok :) See you tonight.

Well, count the experiment a success. I heard about it at the Geeks Doing Good event, and went to your FB profile.

Unfortunately, probably won’t make it over to that area of town. Plus, gotta watch the game tonight.

Have a great time, still on baby duty. Might be able to do last minute parties again in a few years… ;)
