Kensington iPhone Battery

Lori works at the computer and mobile accessories company Kensington and recently she brought home a really cool new product that they just released, a Mini Battery Pack and Charger for iPhone and iPod. Not only can it be used as an external battery when your power is low, but it also charges your iPhone and iPod as you are using it.

- Power and charge your iPhone or iPod
- Extends play time up to 30 hours of music; 6 hours of video; 3 hours of talk
- Includes retractable USB charging cable to recharge battery pack
- High-capacity, rechargeable lithium-ion polymer battery pack for increased energy efficiency
- Small enough to keep connected to your iPhone or iPod
- LED battery meter displays remaining power level

It comes with a small expandable USB cable that you can use to charge the battery alone or even simultaneously charge both the battery and iPhone.

Kensington also has some great packaging.

I have a similar product that has a USB socket output instead of the iPod dock output – very handy for charging the PSP, phones… anything. If this we able to have both dock and USB out, it would be perfect!!!!

This would really help me out for when i stream Qik from my iPhone. Qik drains your battery so fast it is scary.

I wrote about the Juice Pack a while back. You can see that they are very different when it comes to how they interface with the iPhone: http://laughingsquid.com/juice-pack-an-extended...

It looks like the Kensington charge might be able to work with the iPhone 3G. I guess we will find out soon.

ipodjuice.com has something similiar I think – from their home page click on “chargers” on the right top side of the screen and scroll down. Nice to have mobile charging options.

The Kensington mini battery pack covers the earphone jack of the iPod Touch so sound is not possible. It’s good for playing games (without sound) or surfing.
