Joseph Herscher, Brooklyn’s Rube Goldberg

Brooklyn-based artist Joseph Herscher creates elaborate Rube Goldberg-style machines in his Brooklyn apartment (NY Times article). His most recent machine turns a newspaper page after an elaborate two minute process that involves a burning fuse and a hamster (video & NY Times interactive feature). Herscher’s fixation with elaborate machines began four years ago in his native New Zealand when he built a machine to smash a Cadbury creme egg.
