An Australian Don Lane interview from 1979 with Tom Waits shows the musician and actor as a possible inspiration for Heath Ledger as the Joker in the 2008 film The Dark Knight. From the way he talks to the distinct offbeat mannerisms, the similarity between the two are wildly spot on. Tom and Heath both acted together in the 2009 fantasy film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus that was directed by Terry Gilliam.
