Back in November, Dr. James Hamblin of The Atlantic posted a “Fist Bump Manifesto,” which promotes the fist bump as a healthier alternative to the handshake. Hamblin bases his claim on a recent study that found fist bumping transmitted far fewer bacteria than handshakes (and the CDC reports that an estimated 80% of infections are transmitted by hands). To promote his manifesto, Hamblin has also created a “Fist Bump Manifesto” video, which includes proper fist bump etiquette for the workplace.
