Facebook Launches Slingshot, An Ephemeral Messaging App for Photos and Videos

Facebook has announced the launch of Slingshot, an ephemeral creative collaboration app for photos and videos by Facebook Creative Labs. Much like similar ephemeral messing apps, each photo and video is gone after viewing, but the real difference with Slingshot is that to even see the original photo or video users must reply with their own photo or video, then they can also send a separate reaction to what they’ve seen.

Slingshot is currently available on iOS and Android.

To get started on Slingshot, shoot a photo or video. It can be what you’re up to, who you’re with or a quick selfie. Add some text and color, then sling it to a bunch of friends. Here’s the deal: friends won’t be able to see your shot until they sling something back to you. They can then reply with a reaction—or simply swipe your shot away.
