I’m posting this via the Gogo inflight internet service on a Virgin America flight from SFO to LAX. I’m getting speeds of 1.3 Mbps down, but only 0.08 Mbps up (the download speed is what really matters and it’s pretty quick).
The pricing is $9.95 on flights shorter than 3 hours and $12.95 on flights 3 hours or longer. Along with Virgin America, Gogo is rolling out service on American Airlines, Delta, United and Air Canada. Virgin America plans to have Wi-Fi enabled on all of their planes by June.
This really makes air travel so much more tolerable. I can’t wait until all of the airlines offer this kind of service.

Glad to see some positive comments on this. I’ve read way too many posts by people complaining about it – expressing silly fears that their set neighbors will watch porn and corrupt them during flights and the like. As far as I’m concerned in-flight high speed Internet has no drawbacks.
So awesome. One day you will blog from a space shuttle.
