An Entrancing Video of a Large Intake Vortex at Denison Dam on Lake Texoma on the Border of Texas & Oklahoma

A large intake vortex forms as water drains into a Denisom Dam spillway on Lake Texoma (located on the border of Texas and Oklahoma) in a recent video captured by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Tulsa District. Though the vortex is a regular occurrence as flood waters are released, the group warns that it’s “approximately 8 feet in diameter and capable of sucking in a full-sized boat, so please heed all safety buoys and caution signs.”
