Becky Stern and Phil Torrone of Adafruit Industries test out Rust-Oleum’s NeverWet superhydrophobic spray to see how well it works for making various gadgets — like the LED bike helmet — water-resistant. They found that the hydrophobic spray works fairly well, but tends to degrade in the sun and leave a white, chalky film behind on electronics. You can read more about their experiments at Adafruit.
