Vintage Footage of National Park Visitors Feeding Bears and Problems It Ended Up Causing

On an episode of the Smithsonian Channel‘s America’s National Parks at 100, they released vintage footage featuring park visitors freely feeding bears. This resulted in bears digging through dumpsters and occasionally injuring visitors. In the 1970s, wildlife management at national parks laid down the law and prevented bear feeding, which got rid of most of the problems.
