The Japan Channel offers some insight into Japanese driving etiquette with video of drivers using their hazard lights to ‘thank’ or ‘apologize’ to fellow motorists for allowing them to pull in front of them.

In 99-percent of Japan, the drivers are so considerate and so polite, if you hear a car horn, it’s usually because they’re letting you in.
