Verrophone, A Unique Instrument Made of Glass Tubes That’s Played With Wet Fingers

In 2011, musician Martin Gronmayer created the Verrophone, a unique instrument made completely of glass tubes of varying lengths. While similar in design to Olaf Pyras’ Glarofon, the manner in which it is played is completely different.

(translated) The verrophone is one of the newest glass instruments. Tubes made of hard glass, placed in a horizontal position, are painted with a wet finger. The pitch is not (as in glass harmonica or glass harp) determined by the scope, but by the length of the glasses – the principle of organ or the panpipe accordingly.
