‘UK 24’, A Stunning Visualization of Air Traffic Over the United Kingdom

“UK 24” is a stunning visualization of a day in the life of air traffic patterns above the United Kingdom created by air traffic control service provider NATS. The traffic includes flights to and from London’s Heathrow, the world’s busiest two runway airport.

Our airspace is busy, complex and there is a lot going on. Each year we manage around 2.2 million movements, peaking at over 8,000 a day (although there are around 7,000 on this particular day), with only 5.5 seconds delay per flight attributable to NATS.

NATS has previously given similar treatments to the traffic above Europe and the North Atlantic.
