Two Mirrored Infinity Rooms by Yayoi Kusama Are On Display in New York City

Two mirrored infinity rooms by Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama are currently on display at the artist’s exhibition “I Who Have Arrived in Heaven” at the David Zwirner gallery in New York City. The infinity room “Love Is Calling” is filled with brightly-colored and polka-dotted inflatable appendages. It is the first time the room has been displayed in the U.S. (it was on display in Tokyo earlier this year). The new room “Infinity Mirrored Room – The Souls of Millions of Light Years Away” features hundreds of multicolored LEDs suspended from the ceiling and a shallow reflecting pool as a floor. Both are on display at the exhibition through December 21, 2013. Kusama, who gained notoriety in the 1960s as a member of New York City’s avant garde art movement, has been making mirrored infinity rooms since 1963.
