Today Twitter launched Twitter #music, a new music streaming and discovery service. Twitter #music will aggregate trending tracks from all of Twitter and specifically from musicians and other people that you follow, and will allow users to listen to these songs in iTunes, Spotify, and Rdio. The app is organized into Now Playing, Popular, Emerging, and Suggested, sections, which offer different ways to discover music. The service is currently available in the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand via an iOS app or browser version located at music.twitter.com. Twitter has already committed to developing an Android app, expanding the service to work with other music services, and making the service available in more countries.
