Tom Waits Talks About Stonehenge, Living in NYC and Making It Big in an Animated 1988 Interview

In a fascinating episode of the animated series Blank on Blank, the incredibly talented and verbose Tom Waits spoke about such random topics as behaving in church, moles that live under Stonehenge, the surreal strife of living in New York City and how he goes about writing songs in a rare 1988 interview with journalist Chris Roberts.

I think you just write, and you don’t try to make sense of it. You just put it down the way you got it. You don’t try to organize it or give meaning to it. I think the best thing to do is just take pictures of it. It’s like you go in there with a safari rifle and a telephoto lens, and just wait in the bushes.
