Tom Clancy, the bestselling American author who wrote The Hunt for Red October and many other military & espionage thrillers, died yesterday at the age of 66. Clancy was known for weaving his near-encyclopedic knowledge of military and espionage matters into his novels and nonfiction works. A number of his books, including The Hunt for Red October, Clear and Present Danger, and Patriot Games, were made into films. His books have also spawned numerous video games including the Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six series.
