TinCan, An App That Sends Messages Without Internet or Cell Service

TinCan

Hubski founder Mark Katakowski has created TinCan, an app that sends messages without using the internet or a cellular network. TinCan broadcasts messages to other users in a 100-foot radius, and messages can hop from phone to phone to travel longer distances. The project’s Kickstarter page points out that the app would be useful for natural disasters and protests when internet and cell service aren’t available, but it could also be used for events like festivals, sporting events, and concerts. The app is currently available to download for Android from Google Play.
