The Pixel Painter, 97-Year-Old Retiree Makes Beautiful Pixel Art on Microsoft Paint

“The Pixel Painter” is a delightful mini documentary about Hal Lasko, a 97-year-old retired graphic designer who spends his days making intricate pixel art with Microsoft Paint. He began making pixel art about 15 years ago when his family gave him a PC as a gift. He now spends 10 hours a day crafting the art pixel by pixel, taking advantage of the program’s zoom function to compensate for his deteriorating eyesight. The film was directed by Ryan Lasko (Hal’s grandson) and Josh Bogdan.
