The Japanese Meteorological Agency Satellite Himawari 8 Takes Its First Images of Earth

The Japanese Meteorological Agency (JMA) satellite Himawari 8 has taken its first images of the Earth after launching into orbit on October 7, 2014. The JMA has released a high-resolution 11,000 x 11,000 pixel true color version of the image that composites the satellite’s blue, green, and red bands into one beautiful photo.
