The Boombox Documentary is an upcoming film about the boombox, its role in urban life in the 70s and 80s, and its influence on hip-hop and other music genres (teaser). Director Paul Stone plans to interview music celebrities, graffiti artists, collectors, and others who were influenced by the boombox. The documentary is an expansion of Stone’s short film about The Boombox Project, a photo book by Lyle Owerko (see our post on the project). Stone is raising funds for the documentary on Kickstarter.
