The Amazing Rescue of a Juvenile Shark Who Beached Himself While Chasing Seagulls

In July 2015, visitors at a Chatham, Massachusetts beach came upon a juvenile great white shark who accidentally beached himself in pursuit of errant seagulls. The helpless shark was flapping around in the sand before going completely still. Luckily, Chatham Harbormasters Stuart Smith and Jason Holm and Dr. Greg Skomal of the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries and the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy were on hand to revive the young carcharodon, tag him and tow him back out to sea. Once they were out far enough, the shark began swimming on his own, much to the relief of everyone involved. More recently, the rescued shark, who was given the name Jamison, was spotted near the Cape Cod town .
