The 31st Harbin Ice and Snow Festival (previously), an annual winter celebration of snow and ice art, architecture, and more, opened on January 5, 2015 in Harbin, China. The event includes monumental frozen sculptures, some in excess of 30-feet tall, as well as winter-themed performances and an amusement park. At night, the various snow and ice structures in the festival are colorfully illuminated, creating a beautiful spectacle.

The Atlantic In Focus blog has posted a photo gallery from this year’s festival. The Harbin Ice and Snow Festival runs through February 28, 2015.
