Tesla Motors and SpaceX founder Elon Musk (previously) announced plans for yet another future-focused venture, an unnamed company that will use a network of hundreds of satellites to deliver low-cost, high-speed Internet to more than three billion people across the globe who currently lack access. The forward-thinking executive also sees the system as the foundation for communications with his planned Mars colony.
It will be important for Mars to have a global communications network as well. I think this needs to be done, and I don’t see anyone else doing it.
