Great Big Story visited with Lya Battle, the amazing woman who runs Territorio de Zaguates (Land of Mutts), a no-kill sanctuary in Costa Rica for mixed breed dogs. All the dogs are welcome to spend their entire lives should they not be adopted by a loving family. Calling it a “labor of love”, Battle and her entire staff care for over 700 dogs at any one time. Donations of money, medication and other necessities can be made through their Facebook page.
