Tales of the San Francisco Cacophony Society

Tales of the San Francisco Cacophony Society

A template for pranksters, artists, adventurers and anyone interested in rampant creativity, Tales of the San Francisco Cacophony Society is the history of the most influential underground cabal you’ve never heard of.

We’re thrilled that the first images have surfaced from Tales of the San Francisco Cacophony Society, the upcoming book that shares the history and never before published images & documents of the influential collective known as the San Francisco Cacophony Society. While no one specifically ran the group, it was the creative driving force that inspired Burning Man, Santacon, Chuck Palahniuk’s Fight Club, “flash mobs, urban exploration, and culture jamming.”

Artist Kevin Evans had the idea for the book back in 2007 and has since created the book’s gorgeous retro-style comic art. He explains, “… it occurred to me that the vintage EC horror comic style would be perfect. I was inspired! it was then that I began early sketches for possible cover and interior illustrations. one idea that really stuck was a re-occurring “Ripley’s believe it or not” type of one panel info-comic. this would eventually become the “Cacophony Factoid”.”

The book is edited by long time cacophonists Kevin Evans, Carrie Galbraith and John Law, and will be available in hardcover in November 2012 through Last Gasp.
