“Taking the Chair” is a humorous photo series in which classic paintings by Vermeer, Magritte, and other masters are recreated in photographic form. The original works were all chosen for their prominent use of chairs, hence the name of the series. Each recreation has been subtly altered, often with modern elements. The series is a collaboration between artist Maisie Maud Broadhead and her mother, artist Caroline Broadhead—the daughter took the photos and the mother provided the chairs.
