Subversive Cross Stitch

Delicious QR code cross stitch, this piece will read “Use A Fucking Coaster” when any curious onlooker or recipient scans it with their smart phone. Remind your guests not to be such beasts!

Inspired by Gaga, of course! Show Me Your Teef!

Aren’t you glad you’re still here to stitch this pattern?

Julie Jackson, the creative brain behind Kitty Wigs has another equally-as-amusing venture called Subversive Cross Stitch, which may best be described as “not your grandmother’s cross-stitch.” She takes the quaint embroidery craft of cross-stitching and turns it into something both highly amusing and well, subversive. Jackson, also a freelance monthly columnist for Craft, has a book on the subject published, Subversive Cross Stitch: 33 Designs for Your Surly Side. While she has been successfully doing this schtick for a while, some of her newer designs are worth noting like QR codes riddled with profane messages that actually read when scanned and those inspired by internet memes.

Most of her patterns can be downloaded as pdfs for “instant gratification.”
