Stephen Hawking Performs the Monty Python Classic ‘Galaxy Song’ in a Music Video Promoting Record Store Day

Professor Stephen Hawking lends his unique voice to a cover of the Monty Python classic “Galaxy Song,” the tune about the size, shape, and speed of the Milky Way Galaxy. Hawking’s cover will be released as a limited edition seven-inch vinyl that will only be available at Record Store Day events on Saturday, April 18, 2015.

The video features footage from Hawking’s appearance during the Pythons’ 2014 “Monty Python Live (mostly) – One Down Five to Go” reunion shows where Hawking attacked physicist Brian Cox for questioning the accuracy of the song. Fans of Hawking’s version can even play a special version of the classic arcade game Asteroids with improved physics where Hawking fires missiles at the floating heads of members of the Pythons and the giant head of Brian Cox.

For comparison, the original version of the song as it appeared in the 1983 Monty Python film The Meaning of Life.
