In the Cirque du Soleil short film “SPARKED,” a man finds himself interacting with a playful swarm of flying lampshades. The flying effect is not post-production digital trickery — it was achieved live, with 10 quadcopters whose movements were choreographed to synchronize with the actions of the human performer. The film was created in partnership with ETH Zurich and Verity Studios.
