Scientists at the University of Delaware College of Earth, Ocean, and Environment’s ORB LAB were trying to recapture tagged sharks and unexpectedly caught a large female sand tiger shark that had just swallowed a 3-foot long smooth dogfish (shark). They report, “This unlucky smooth dogfish couldn’t resist the menhaden used as bait and unfortunately fell victim to one of the top predators in the bay.”
