Seattle Artist & Activist Gerald “Jerry” Xenocrates Diamond (1930-2011)

Gerald X. Diamond & Fathia Atallah

Gerald X. Diamond

My cousin Gerald “Jerry” Xenocrates Diamond, an eccentric artist and community activist well known around Seattle, passed away on April 27th at age 80. He and his wife Fathia founded The French Cultural Center on Capitol Hill, open 1999-2004. Jerry could often been seen playing the piano at Victrola Coffee and Art on Capitol Hill or riding his ZAP electric bike around town. The Capitol Hill blog on Seattle P-I posted a really great tribute to Jerry and his Seattle legacy.

A memorial for Jerry is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 21st from 1-4pm at the Swedish Cultural Center.
