SafariSeat, An All Terrain, Open Source Wheelchair Designed for People in Developing Countries

SafariSeat is an all terrain wheelchair designed for people in developing countries. The design is being released freely as an open source toolkit, and the chair itself can be constructed cheaply from bicycle parts.

SafariSeat’s designer Janna Frederick Stone Deeble is raising money through Kickstarter to distribute the open source toolkit and to produce the first run of 50 SafariSeats in a local workshop in Kenya.

Safariseat gives people independence, unlocking access to education, employment and a life beyond the confines of their own home.
