Robotic Arms Incorporate Toy Trains Into Their Dance Routine

This video shows off the more playful side of the IRB 140 industrial robot by ABB, as the robotic arms spin and swivel around, picking up and putting down two toy trains barreling around a track. The arms were designed for industrial packing and placing, but their precision and programmability has made them a star of a number of web videos, where they decorate cakes and take a spin around a six pack of Fanta cans. The video, shot at last year’s Taipei Industrial Automation Exhibition (TIAE) in August, features five-and-a-half minutes of tricky maneuvers and not a single dropped train.
