NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory has created RoboSimian, a four-footed disaster relief robot that can also stand on two feet, similar to primates. The robot, affectionately known as “Clyde,” took fifth place in the DARPA Robotics Challenge in December 2013 where it proved that it could turn a valve, cross uneven terrain, clear debris, and open and pass through doors.
